Asscher Cut Engagement Ring

As you well know, we are in love with Tacori designs.  When we received this submission from a newly married RingSpotters fan, we jumped for joy because not only was it from Tacori’s Dantela’s collection (one of our favorites), but the stunning ring photos arrived with a beautiful story.

Cut: Asscher
Carat: 2
Setting: Tacori Dantela with a cushion halo of 20 round diamonds surrounding the center Asscher.

Engagement story: My husband and I met on a blind date in Chennai, India – he was finishing his final year of medical school, and I was there for a 10 month fellowship. It was a whirlwind romance from the start. One of the things we loved about each other was our mutual fascination for all things vintage – books, architecture, antiques, furniture. He took this love to new heights when he proposed. He surprised me with a plane ticket to New York City, our favorite city. We stayed in the famous Library Hotel, had front row seats to the Phantom of the Opera, and then went to The Metropolitan Museum of Art to supposedly “check out an exhibit.” We stopped at the Balcony Bar for a drink, and he handed me a handwritten note on the Library Hotel’s stationary with the words, “My darling, today is the day our lives begin… for before you, there was no beginning and with you alone, there is life.” He got down on one knee, and out of nowhere, a photographer appeared! He had taken candid shots of the entire proposal. He knew how much I loved the vintage elegance of an Asscher cut, and that the style was very popular in the 1920s (one of my favorite eras of American fashion!) The delicate filigree work on the basket and the milgrain trim reminds me of a different time and place, romantic and graceful, and I love that.  After an impromptu photo session in and among the beautiful columns of The Met, we had dinner at Le Colonial, a Vietnamese and French fusion restaurant with an ambience reminiscent of the French colonial era. It was spectacular! Knowing our love for vintage, my mother in law gave me a tiny silver jewelry box that belonged to her. I use it to put my rings in every night, and I love the special history!

Deco Knot Engagement Ring from Gumuchian

If you haven’t seen the gorgeous designs from Gumuchian Jewelers in New York, you absolutely must.  We had such a tough time choosing our today’s daily bling, but we kept coming back to this Deco Knot engagement ring (also available with pink sapphires) – the way it mixes elements of vintage and modern style, the angles, the sparkle – it’s simply stunning.

Asscher Cut Engagement Ring

We have a gorgeous Asscher cut engagement ring for you this morning from a newly engaged bride from San Francisco. We have to hand it to her fiance who did a tremendous amount of research on engagement rings and diamonds – he knew so much and knew exactly what he wanted (right down the the last C) that he went to BlueNile.com, ordered his perfect ring and had it shipped directly to his office. The ring is elegant, classic and the stone is unbelievable radiant and shiny!
