Today we have a first for RingSpotters – an illusion setting engagement ring, which are groups of smaller diamonds clustered together to create the illusion of a larger stone. What a beautiful piece!
Ring Details: 3 carat illusion setting with 4 princess cut diamonds in the center surrounded by marquise cut diamonds, set in white gold.
We love it when we hear from the boys and today we feature a beautiful princess cut engagement ring that our newly engaged groom helped design. It comes to us from Tokyo, where stone quality takes precedence over size, so he had to search long and hard for a stone that was not only flawless, but one that is larger than average, for Japanese standards. We think he did an incredible job.

A reader recently “spotted” this beautiful ring, saying only that it was a promise ring. It appears to be two princess cut diamonds set in square halos of pave diamonds, but giving the unique illusion of floating in the middle of the setting. We love the delicate wave-like split shank band which gives such a wonderful contrast to the square shaped stone. What a beautiful and creative piece!
Today’s ring comes from a San Francisco bride who got married last October in an intimate, romantic Sonoma California wedding. She writes: “I love the simplicity of the Princess Cut as it continues to stay classic”. We love the way she paired her engagement ring with a matching Princess Cut wedding band to create an elegant and eye-catching set.
Cut: Princess cut center stone with two Princess Cut sidestones
Setting: Platinum band with channel cut stones surrounding the sidestones
Wedding Band: Four Princess Cut diamonds sized the same as the sidestones, set lower than the engagement ring
This morning we bring you a lovely fall wedding from one of our RingSpotter brides whose Princess Cut engagement ring was featured last July. Married on October 1 at the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown Ct, our bride paired a fabulous diamond studded wedding band with her engagement ring to make a perfect set. We are loving the bridesmaids dresses and fantasizing about putting one on to be a princess for a day! What a fabulous wedding and a gorgeous bride!

This morning’s ring boasts a perfect princess cut center stone. Flanked by two baguettes and set in platinum, the ring is classic and exquisite.
The Princess cut, sometimes referred to as the “square modified brilliant” is actually the second most popular cut shape next to the round brilliant and the face up shape of the diamond looks like an inverted pyramid.
Cut: Princess
Setting: Baguette Sidestones set on platinum
